Recap of some of my fave photos from our recent family Spring Break in one of our favorite small towns, San Jose del Cabo in Mexico. My parents invited my husband and I to join them in their paradise for a whole week!

Great fun had by all; and of course… A lot of baby chatter! Next year, our first munchkin will be in-tow!

It’s important to note…

Recently the Tumblrbot asked me a question. “What makes you feel better when you are in a bad mood?” I answered honestly, but quickly realized how sticky sweet and ‘fake’ my answer seemed. I think it’s important to make a few notes for readers of my tumblr… because life is not sticky sweet and neither will this outlet of mine.

I created this outlet for my brain and emotions to be kept in check with what’s important in life. It’s so incredibly easy to get caught up in the ‘woe is me’ trend occasionally, but look around you. Life is pretty freakin’ fantastic, is my guess. If you have access to the internet and are reading this message, life can’t really be too bad. You have electricity. You’re surrounded by things. Things. You’re not alone, cold, hungry and without natural necessities. But, we can talk more about that later. Let’s talk about me. I’m good at that.

What you’ll find here, throughout the days, weeks, months or years that I post, is a collection of moments in life where i was reminded of how lucky I really am. How happy life can really be. Maybe you’ll just enjoy my stories. Maybe you’ll be inspired by my stories and be moved enough to create a happiness-level equivalent for yourself and your loved ones.

I’ll always try to make you smile. Sometimes maybe I’ll even make you laugh! That would be a great thing.

I’ll share the ups and downs of life. Mostly relationships in life… parental, other familial, marriage, work, etc. No relationship will be spared. Someone has to be real and honest with the rest of the world in regards to what makes us tick. What is it that helps you stay grounded, solid and in total appreciation for what makes you happy? It’s tough to find that (or those) element, and even tougher to call it into your space when you’re feeling down and need a major pick-me-up. Let’s talk about it.

In the meantime, let’s just realize how much happiness there is around us and share it here. I’ll help point out life’s little interesting things that help bring the average human happiness.

Enjoy, and I look forward to getting to know you too.

P.S. I may diverge occasionally and talk about home improvement projects, vacations, etc. These all bring happiness (and sometimes craziness) too, and will likely be a fun addition to the typical food and love posts. :)

Amsterdam

Ah, yes. Amsterdam. Quite possibly my favorite place on earth. Maybe. Don’t tell my other favorite places!

Flora Farms San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico

Nestled just outside of San Jose is an oasis from the average tourist dining experience, Flora Farms. A Certified Organic Farm by both the USDA and Canada Organic, a restaurant, cooking school and market you will feel as though you have stumbled into a different world.  As you walk through the courtyard you take in the open air restaurant, outdoor stone pizza oven, rows and rows of organic produce, intermixed with majestic sunflowers, and live music before you are seated at your rustic table to experience a true Farm to Table meal. This is an organic restaurant and there are vegetarian options just be sure to ask questions as there are a lot of meat or dairy in the dishes that may not be listed in the menu. For instance as a first course JP ordered a Corn Salad that I thought I would be able to try but it came with bacon in it.  Also the portions are very large. JP was full from his corn salad and fresh made bread before his main course of Gnocchi came.  I ordered the Beet Capriccio(without cheese) as a first course, which was amazing.  The thinly cut beets drenched in olive oil and fresh herbs totally melted in my mouth and was so flavorful!  I also ordered the Quinoa Salad which was large enough to have on it’s own. I would suggest sharing any of the first course or salad items with at least one other person and they can easily be shared with 3.  The menu is always changing based on what is in season and the freshest so don’t expect the exact menu online when you arrive but it will be fairly similar.  It was a serene evening as we sat eating fresh food, with live blues music playing right next to us and crickets chirping in the background.

We’ll be taking a family vacation to San Jose del Cabo in the Spring; our second time there. As we search for more new things to try, I’m enlightened by this blog post and hopeful for more like it!
